Email Marketing Campaigns: How They Can Help Your Business ...

How can you bring in new customers on a limited budget? A great way to do this is to take advantage of email marketing. If you are unfamiliar with this great method of improving your business, read on! The following paragraphs light your path forward.

People should be able to opt out from your mailing list easily. You do have to pay for email marketing, but it is cheap. You do not want your business to be considered in a negative way or to have your email address put on blacklistings.

It is a very good idea to require people that are interested in receiving emails from you to double opt-in. That may appear to be a large amount of effort, but you are guaranteed that the person really wants your emails, which erases the chance that you and your ISP will run into trouble.

Create your email list from people who have requested to receive it. Do not purchase a list from a 3rd party. Instead, compile a list using business cards of people you have met, and via subscription sign ups on your website. This way, you can better guarantee relevancy and have a bigger impact on your business needs.

It is important that you obtain subscriber consent before you begin emailing them. Customers won't take you seriously if you spam them or send them anything they didn't ask for. A lot of people will not want to spend money with your company any longer.

Choose themes for your marketing emails which build on special occasions and holidays. Plan a calendar year ahead, keeping these dates in mind. Make sure you send out emails for holidays like Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Valentines Day. You can increase sales if you do heavy marketing during the times of the year that business is slower.

Your email opt-in should include a confirmation method. Make it simple for people to change their minds about joining your list. This might feel redundant, but you will ensure more targeted readers and fewer complaints about spam or email abuse.

Try to enhance your campaigns for email marketing with not just active feedback, but passive feedback, as well. Active feedback can be gained by asking your readers for suggestions. You should also use passive feedback, which is more subtle. There are many software tools available that will track the clicked links on your email messages.

Keep your branding consistent in all your email marketing. When you are creating any piece of creative data (including names, or design) choose something that will stand the test of time. If your emails are all completely different, people will not remember your company from one mailing to the next.

It is very important that you gain permission from anyone before sending correspondence by email. Being known as a spammer is the worst reputation a company can have online and will lead to a loss in customers and sales. Additionally, some Internet service provides may blacklist you, and that can have tremendously detrimental effects on future business.

Educate yourself about email marketing using whatever tools necessary. You can find books in libraries and on the web. In addition, lots of local classes and workshops can be discovered in your area. Therefore, it would help you to attend these when you can.

Make sure your emails are kept short and sweet. Customers won't want to read any more than a few paragraphs. People are busy and don't have much time to deal with marketing messages. If you can quickly say what needs to be said and let your audience go, they are more likely to read you next time.

Personalize your marketing emails. You can insert the recipient's name, and much more, in a standard message. Use all the information about your subscribers that you have at your disposal. You can create small categories of subscribers based on common interests, and tailor your messages to speak to these small groups of customers.

Show all of your customers and followers that you do truly appreciate their support and value their time, do this by sending emails that are informative, as opposed to spam. Do not send out repetitive emails or uninteresting ones. Consider incorporating information on how to use a particular product, or troubleshoot a problem that many of your customers may have.

In addition to using what you've just read, think of your audience in order to be effective at email marketing. What are they wanting to see? Write content that is interesting to them. Find ways to turn these thoughts into valuable sales opportunities. Using the answers gleaned from this article to create your own effective campaign.

Congresswoman To Introduce Bill To Make Cellphone Unlocking ...

Just days after both the White House and the Federal Communications Commission expressed concerns about the Librarian of Congress? decision to make it illegal for consumers to unlock their own cellphones, a U.S. Representative from California says she intends to introduce legislate to right this wrong.

?The ban on unlocking cell phones puts consumers in the back seat when it comes to choosing the mobile device and service that best suits them,? said Congresswoman Anna G. Eshoo of Palo Alto in a statement. ?Competition and consumer choice are equally fundamental to a vibrant mobile marketplace, which is why I intend to introduce legislation eliminating the ban on unlocking cell phones and other mobile devices.?

Eshoo is also the Ranking Member on the Communications and Technology Subcommittee.

In October, the Librarian of Congress, who inexplicably has sole discretion to interpret the intentions and implications of the much-maligned Digital Millennium Copyright Act, heeded the call of the wireless industry, which claimed that consumers should no longer be able to unlock phones without permission of their current carrier.

The industry argued that wireless companies now make this service readily available to customers and that there are many unlocked phones already available for purchase at a reasonable price. The Librarian also cited legal precedent that found that smartphone users don?t own the software on their devices, but merely license it per their user agreement.

And so any new phones purchased after Jan. 25, 2013, would need to be unlocked through a customer?s current wireless carrier. Unlocking a new phone on your own could result in fines and possible jail time.

On Monday, the White House responded to a petition on its website that had garnered more than 114,000 signatures in an attempt to reverse the LOC?s decision.

?[I]f you have paid for your mobile device, and aren?t bound by a service agreement or other obligation, you should be able to use it on another network,? wrote R. David Edelman, Senior Advisor for Internet, Innovation, & Privacy. ?It?s common sense, crucial for protecting consumer choice, and important for ensuring we continue to have the vibrant, competitive wireless market that delivers innovative products and solid service to meet consumers? needs.?

Want To Cut Your Risk Of Prostate Cancer? Masturbate Five Times ...

masturbation studyWe usually just find cute kitty videos and links to banana slicers on our Facebook feed but today we saw a post that made us feel good about ourselves?and feel good about feeling ourselves.

A report out of Australia some years back claimed that men who masturbated five times a day were only third as likely to develop prostate cancer. The theory is that disease-causing toxins build up the urogenital tract and servicing yourself helps flush out the system.

It makes you harder. As you age, you naturally lose muscle tone?even down there. Regular sex or masturbation works out your pelvic floor muscles to prevent erectile dysfunction and incontinence. ?It keeps the angle of your dangle perky,? says Brame. Aim to (ahem) arrive 3 to 5 times a week for rock-solid results.

It helps you last longer. Taking yourself to palm prom may help you stretch your sack sessions. ?[Masturbating] an hour before a date will give you more control,? says Brame. Train yourself by timing how long it takes you to orgasm, suggests Ava Cadell, Ph.D., founder of loveologyuniversity.com. If it usually takes two minutes solo, try for three next time. Or count how many strokes you need to get to your happy place. If you?re spurting after 50, shoot for 60. ?Most men can double the number of strokes and the time within one month,? Cadell says. Practice makes perfect, right?

It ups your immunity. Ejaculation increases levels of the hormone cortisol, says Jennifer Landa, M.D., a specialist in hormone therapy. Cortisol, which usually gets a bad rap as a havoc-wrecking stress hormone, actually helps regulate and maintain your immunity in the small doses. ?Masturbation can product the right environment for a strengthened immune system,? she says.

It boosts your mood. Masturbating releases a slew of feel-good neurochemicals like dopamine and oxytocin that lift your spirits, boost your satisfaction, and activate the reward circuits in your brain. ?An orgasm is the biggest non-drug blast of dopamine available,? says Brame. ?A brain scan of someone having an orgasm looks like a heroin addict?s.?

Now if you?ll excuse us, we have some work to do.

UN says 20 peacekeepers detained on Golan Heights

UNITED NATIONS (AP) ? The United Nations said Wednesday about 20 peacekeepers in the force charged with monitoring the cease-fire between Israel and Syrian troops on the Golan Heights were detained by approximately 30 armed fighters.

U.N. deputy spokesman Eduardo del Buey said the U.N. observers were on a regular supply mission earlier Wednesday when they were stopped near an observation post that sustained damage and was evacuated last weekend following heavy combat.

He said the U.N. peacekeeping mission, known as UNDOF, has dispatched a team to assess the situation and attempt a resolution.

Video circulated by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights claims to show Syrian rebels detaining UNDOF peacekeepers in the city of Daraa.

The rebels, according to the report, accuse the peacekeepers of assisting the Syrian regime in redeploying in an area near the Golan which the fighters had seized few days ago in battles that led to the death of 11 fighters and 19 regime forces.

The Observatory said the peacekeepers being held by the rebels are 20 Filipinos. It said they would not be released until regime forces withdraw from a village called Jamla.

The U.N. force was established in 1974 following the 1973 Yom Kippur war to monitor the disengagement of Israeli and Syrian forces and maintain the cease-fire. Israel captured the Golan Heights from Syria in 1967 and Syria wants the land returned in exchange for peace.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has warned of escalating military activity along the Israeli-Syrian border as a result of the intensifying Syrian conflict, which has gone on for two years and cost more than 70,000 lives.

In December, Ban accused the Syrian government of serious violations of the 1974 separation agreement and called on both countries to halt firing across the cease-fire line. He also cited numerous clashes between Syrian security forces and opposition fighters in the disengagement zone.

In response, he said, UNDOF has adopted a number of security measures.

ALBANY, GA --
In our Facebook Story of the Day you wanted to know how to go about building your credit as a young adult.

FOX 31 spoke to Irma Whitten, the CEO of Consumer Credit Counseling Services, who said there are several ways to build your credit starting off. Whitten said the right time to start building your credit is soon after you graduate from high school. Some of the ways she suggested were signing up for a credit card and having your parents co-sign, or being added as an authorized user to a parents credit card. Whitten also said a small auto loan is something that would help build credit.

Whitten also said if you are going to start building your credit, make sure you first know and understand what credit is and how important having a good credit score is. Whitten said young adults should also make sure they can make the credit card or loan payments in full and on time before they sign up.

Build a Customized Book Marketing Plan | San Francisco Book ...

After The Manuscript: Build a Customized Book Marketing Plan, By Dana Lynn Smith

As a book marketing consultant, I?ve noticed that many authors don?t have an effective marketing plan. Some authors focus most of their energy in one area, such as social networking, while others seem to jump from one thing to another as they hear about different ways to promote books.

A written book marketing plan is a valuable tool in guiding authors how to invest their time and money most effectively to generate book sales.

The basic principles of marketing are the same for all types of books. In a nutshell, a marketing plan should define your target markets and your strategies for reaching those markets and persuading them to buy your book.

But there?s no such thing as a ?one size fits all? book marketing plan. Your plan should be customized to your target audiences, the type of book you write, and your personal situation. Let?s take a closer look at these factors.

Define Target Markets

No book is for ?everyone? and it?s important to define the characteristics of the primary market (ideal buyer) as well as secondary markets that also have an interest in the type of book you write.

For example, the primary market for a children?s picture book might be parents of young children. Secondary markets could include grandparents, schools, public libraries and retailers that cater to families. Also look for specific niche markets and distribution outlets based on the subject matter of the book. For example, a book featuring baby animals might be appealing to a zoo gift shop.

Tailor Promotional Plans

Although the marketing principles are the same, there are some differences in the most effective ways to promote children?s books, novels, and nonfiction books. For example, promoting how-to nonfiction is largely about promoting the expertise of the author. Speaking, writing articles, and getting publicity are good ways to achieve that.

Fiction sales benefit greatly from word of mouth recommendations, so a novel marketing plan should include strategies for getting lots of people to read and recommend the book to others. Finding ways to connect with kids and parents is important for children?s book authors, and hand-selling can be very effective.

Customize for the Author

There are dozens of ways to promote books, but we all have a limited amount of time and money. In developing your book marketing plan, consider your own strengths, preferences, time constraints and budget. Many authors have no background in marketing and they will need to learn new some skills.

The final step is to pull everything together into a written plan of action that describes what you will do on a weekly or monthly basis. Be sure to prioritize your activities so you focus your resources on the things that are most likely to produce sales.

Martha Stewart defends J.C. Penney deal

Home diva Martha Stewart testified in court on Tuesday that she did nothing wrong when she signed an agreement to open up shops within most of J.C. Penney's stores across the country.

Stewart testified in New York State Supreme Court as part of a legal battle over whether the company that she founded breached its contract to sell cookware, bedding and other items exclusively at Macy's when she inked the deal with Penney in 2011.

Stewart, who founded Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Inc., during three hours of testimony, denied Macy's allegations that she did anything unethical in brokering the deal with Penney. She said that she was only looking to expand and offer new opportunities for shoppers.

In fact, Stewart said it's Macy's that didn't uphold its end of the agreement to try to maximize the potential of her business. She her brand, which is about a $300 million business at Macy's, has grown "static" at the department store chain. She said she was hoping the business would exceed well over $400 million.

"We were disappointed," Stewart, 71, testified. "We did have hopes that the business would be much bigger ... We got to a certain dollar amount and struggled and never got any further."

The trial, which began Feb. 20, focuses on whether Macy's has the exclusive right to sell some Martha Stewart branded products such as cookware, bedding and bath items.

Penney signed a pact in December 2011 with Martha Stewart Living to open shops at most of its 1,100 stores by this spring. But one month later, Macy's renewed its long-standing exclusive deal until 2018 and sued Martha Stewart Living and Penney.

Martha Stewart and Penney are using what they believe is a loophole in the agreement between Macy's and Martha Stewart to move forward with the deal. It's a provision that allows Martha Stewart to sell goods in categories like bedding in Martha Stewart stores.

According to Martha Stewart lawyers, because the Macy's agreement doesn't specify that these Martha Stewart stores have to be "stand alone" stores, the mini shops within Penney stores do not fall under the exclusive agreement. Moreover, Stewart said in court Tuesday that even Amazon.com could be considered a store, given that shoppers are shifting more to online buying.

"I don't think you need walls to be a store," she said.

The trial has unveiled some of the drama that has taken place behind-the-scenes between Stewart and the CEOs of Macy's Inc. and J.C. Penney Co.

During his testimony on Friday, Penney CEO Ron Johnson rejected claims by Macy's lawyers that he plotted to push Martha Stewart to breach her deal with Macy's with the goal of eventually becoming the sole carrier of some of Stewart's products.

Johnson, dressed in a dark suit and striped navy tie during his testimony, said that he just wanted to get a piece of the action while helping the struggling Martha Stewart business grow. She also said that the expanded partnership could be good for everyone, including Macy's.

Macy's attorneys, meanwhile, have portrayed Stewart as someone who turned her back on a good friend, Macy's CEO Terry Lundgren, to broker a deal with a rival company. During testimony earlier in the trial, Lundgren, who wore a suit, said that he hung up on Stewart after she told him about the deal she'd reached with Penney, and hasn't spoken to her since.

"I was quite taken back by his response and when he hung up on me I was quite flabbergasted," Stewart said on Tuesday.

Stewart's testimony comes as the company she founded continues to struggle. Martha Stewart Living just finished its fifth straight year of losses. The company has also had steep sales declines.

Martha Stewart Living has been trying to bolster its merchandising business, which represents 30 percent of the company's annual revenue, to offset declines in its broadcast and publishing divisions as people continue to shift toward the Web and mobile apps to get their recipes and food tips.

The biggest opportunities for Martha Stewart Living are in the home category. That's because as the housing recovery gains momentum in the economic recovery, consumers will likely put more money into their homes.

During her testimony on Tuesday, Stewart said she always wanted to open big shops at Macy's, but the retailer never embraced that concept. Instead, she noted the merchandise is just "here and there."

That's why she said that a proposal from Penney's CEO Ron Johnson to create shops filled with all sorts of home merchandise was appealing.

"We hoped this business would be growing," Stewart said. "It just boggles my mind that we're here sitting in front of you, judge."
