Sundance 2013: RADiUS-TWC falls for Amanda Seyfried as "Lovelace"

NEW YORK (TheWrap.com) - The Weinstein Company's RADiUS fell in love quickly with "Lovelace," a biopic about porn star Linda Lovelace that the multi-platform label acquired Tuesday night at Sundance. The film, which stars Amandra Seyfried, premiered Tuesday, prompting a reported $3 million bid.

The deal marks the third acquisition of the festival for RADiUS, which also picked up "Concussion" and "20 Feet From Stardom." It plans to release "Lovelace" in the fall, mixing theatrical with a VOD release.

Written by Andy Bellin and directed by Oscar-winning documentarians Rob Epstein and Jeffery Friedman, "Lovelace" chronicles the rise of Linda Lovelace, her role in the sexual revolution of the 1970s and her eventual rejection of pornography. Lovelace was the star of "Deep Throat," one of the first and most successful pornographic movies.

"'Lovelace' delivers on every level - the story coupled with top notch performances makes for a highly compelling and sophisticated look into a cultural phenomenon," RADiUS co-presidents Tom Quinn and Jason Janego said in a statement. "We are over the moon to have the film on our 2013 slate."

Peter Sarsgaard, Hank Azaria, Wes Bentley, Adam Brody, Bobby Cannavale, James Franco, Debi Mazar, Sharon Stone, Chloe Sevigny, Juno Temple and Chris Noth all complement Seyfried in the star-studded cast. Millenium Entertainment's Mark Gill and Avi Lerner made the deal with RADiUS and The Weinstein Company's David Glasser.
