ALBANY, GA --
In our Facebook Story of the Day you wanted to know how to go about building your credit as a young adult.
FOX 31 spoke to Irma Whitten, the CEO of Consumer Credit Counseling Services, who said there are several ways to build your credit starting off. Whitten said the right time to start building your credit is soon after you graduate from high school. Some of the ways she suggested were signing up for a credit card and having your parents co-sign, or being added as an authorized user to a parents credit card. Whitten also said a small auto loan is something that would help build credit.
Whitten also said if you are going to start building your credit, make sure you first know and understand what credit is and how important having a good credit score is. Whitten said young adults should also make sure they can make the credit card or loan payments in full and on time before they sign up.
